A Cinematic Trailer concept for World of Warcraft (Vanilla). A melting pot of composited images to bring back the nostalgia.
The shots are composited from scratch using background videos, greenscreen characters and compositing tricks to gives it the cinematic feeling.
Behind The Scenes
This project have been made with 2D assets only. The images are composited with After Effects. At the end of the project, over 500 videos & images files were used.
I decided during pre-production how the shot would looks and from there captured very simple camera movement with my character in-game. This is the only time I had to use the game itself.
Each character (Boss, Players…) are from WoW Model Viewer and shot with either Fraps or Bandicam.
I use 3monitors at 1920×1080. When you are working in 2560×1440 & 4K this is a concern. Thanks to nVidia, what ever resolution you have, you can still use a 3840×2160 (4K) resolution. Obviously your eyes can’t see it because your monitor won’t display that amount of details but the software will still capture everything at the right resolution. This way, you can have high quality footage and easily crop them so you can compose them the way you want.
